Garage clearance
Thirty years of paint tins, offcuts and a workbench nobody has seen the top of. Usually the easiest job on the list — and we can often do it while you are out.
The garage is where everything went that was too good to throw away. Then the shelves filled, then the floor, and at some point it stopped being somewhere you keep a car and became somewhere you keep the past.
It is one of our most common jobs and one of the quickest, because almost all of it can be carried straight out to a vehicle parked on the drive.
What is normally in there
- Timber, offcuts, old doors, sheets of ply
- Tools, benches, vices, racking, tins of fixings
- Bikes, mowers, strimmers, garden furniture, hosepipes
- Tyres, wheels, exhausts, car parts, a bumper for a car sold in 2011
- Boxes that have not been opened since a previous house
- Fridges and freezers running out there for no reason anybody remembers
The metal is the good news
Garages are metal-rich in a way most rooms are not. Racking, tools, an old bench, bike frames, mower decks, car parts, copper offcuts from some long-finished job. All of that is scrap value, and it comes off the price of the clearance.
Every so often a garage clearance nets out at nothing at all, which is a good day for everyone.
You do not need to be there
Provided we can get to it and the price is agreed, most garage jobs can be done while you are at work. A key, a code, a neighbour, or an unlocked up-and-over door on the day — whatever suits. You come home to an empty garage.
This is the single most requested thing about this job and it is nearly always possible, which is not true of a full house clearance.
The things to flag first
- Part-used paint, thinners, engine oil, weedkiller. These need a different route than general waste. Tell us what is there — it is very normal and it is not a problem, but it is not something to discover on the day.
- Gas bottles. Patio gas, propane, camping cylinders and any acetylene are a no from us; they need somebody set up for cylinders. Old fire extinguishers, on the other hand, are fine once discharged.
- Fuel. Jerry cans, mower fuel, two-stroke mix. Say so.
- A car in there. If the reason the garage is full is that there is a non-runner in the middle of it, that is a scrap car and it changes the job in your favour.
Getting a price
Open the door, stand back, take one photo. That is genuinely enough for most garages — and no, you do not need to tidy it first. Tidying it first is the thing you have been avoiding for six years.

How much there is
The biggest single factor, and the one the photo answers on its own. We price by what it takes to shift — part of a van, a full van, one tipper load, three.

What’s in it
Some things carry a disposal charge by law — fridges, mattresses, tyres, plasterboard, paint. Others go the other way: if there’s real metal in the load, that value comes off your price.

How hard it is to reach
Kerbside and a wide drive is quick. Up two flights, through a narrow side gate, or forty yards down a wet garden is not. We’re charging for the time, not punishing you for the stairs.

Where you are
Wymondham and Hethersett are on the doorstep. Beccles is a run. It’s rarely the deciding factor, but it’s honest to say it counts for something.
Why there’s no “from £80” on this page
Because a from-price is a number chosen to get you on the phone, not a number anyone intends to charge. You ring, it turns out your job isn’t the one job in a hundred that qualifies, and the real figure lands once someone is already stood on your drive.
We’d rather you got the actual number for your actual load, in writing, before anyone turns up — and that you were free to ignore it. The price we send is the price you pay, unless you add to the pile, in which case tell us and we’ll re-quote.
Skip or us
A skip is a box you fill yourself.
Sometimes a skip genuinely is the right answer — a long refurb, a job where waste appears over weeks. For a one-off clear-out, it’s usually the more expensive way to do your own lifting.

Straight answers
Can you do it while I am out?
Usually yes — this is the job people ask that about most, and it is nearly always possible. A key, a code, a neighbour, or an unlocked up-and-over door on the day. You come home to an empty garage.
What about old paint, oil and weedkiller?
Very common and not a problem, but tell us before the day. Part-used paint, engine oil, thinners and fuel need a different route from general waste and we would rather plan for it than find it.
Could the metal cover the cost?

Is it all done legally?
Yes. We are a registered waste carrier and licensed scrap dealer, every load comes with a waste transfer note, and our registration numbers are on every page of this site so you can check them before you ring.
