What we take
Scrap metal
Ferrous and non-ferrous, collected from your yard, site or drive — or brought in and weighed while you watch. Fair weight, fair price, proper paperwork.
What that covers
Light iron
Radiators, appliances, bed frames, gates, mixed steel. The everyday grade.
See more →Heavy scrap & shearing
Plate, beam, rail and axles. Anything that has to be cut before it can move.
Non-ferrous
Copper, brass, lead, aluminium. Sorted properly, because that is what makes it pay.
See more →Batteries
Lead-acid off cars, vans, plant and standby sets. Collected loose or by the pallet.
See more →Gold & silver
Tested in front of you, weighed in front of you, priced at the counter.
See more →Fire extinguishers
Time-expired and discharged units, stripped for the steel and aluminium.
See more →We buy and collect scrap metal in every grade, from a single radiator out of a garage to a standing collection off a working unit. The pages above break it down by what you have actually got, because the grade is what decides the price and the grades are not close to each other.
The one thing worth knowing first
Hold a magnet to it.
If it sticks, it is ferrous — iron or steel. That is light iron if it is thin, heavy scrap if it is thick and you cannot lift it.
If it does not stick, it is non-ferrous — copper, brass, lead, aluminium — and it is worth many times what the steel beside it is worth. That is the single most valuable thirty seconds you can spend before anybody quotes you, because a copper cylinder priced as light iron is a copper cylinder you have given away.
How we work
- Collected or brought in. One-off loads we come out for. If you generate it weekly, a trade collection is a better arrangement for both of us.
- Weighed where you can see it. Not estimated, not written down out of sight.
- Paid by bank transfer. Paying cash for scrap has been illegal in the UK since 2013. It is worth knowing that any yard offering you notes is either uninformed or hoping you are.
- Licensed, and checkable. Our scrap metal dealer licence numbers and waste carrier registration are on every page of this site, specifically so you can verify them before you ring rather than take our word for it.
- We ask where it came from on rail, cable and catalytic converters. Ten seconds, and it is the difference between a legitimate yard and one that will eventually take somebody else down with it.
Prices, and why none are printed here
Scrap prices move with the metal markets, and they move weekly. Any figure on this page would be out of date before most people read it, and a website quoting last month’s rate is not being transparent — it is being wrong in a direction that never seems to disadvantage whoever published it.
Send a photo of what you have got. You will get today’s number for your actual load, usually the same day.
If it is a whole vehicle
That is a different route with different paperwork, because the DVLA record has to be closed properly. See scrap cars.
On the job
What this actually looks like
How it works
Three steps. No site visit.
Send a photo
WhatsApp a picture of whatever needs shifting. No need to tidy it first or guess the weight.
Get a price
A straight number back, usually the same day. The real price for your actual load.
It’s gone
We turn up, load it, sweep up, and you get the paperwork showing where it went.
The money bit
What actually decides what we pay
Nobody likes “it depends”. Here is what it actually depends on, so you can work out roughly where you stand before you ring anyone.
01
What it weighs
The base of it. Weighed on scales you can read, in front of you — not estimated in a back office and written on a docket afterwards.
02
What grade it is
The widest variable by a distance. Bright copper and burnt copper are the same metal and nowhere near the same price. Light iron, heavy scrap and non-ferrous are three different numbers, and keeping them apart is what moves yours.
03
How clean it is
Everything attached that is not the metal comes off the weight that counts — motors in a pile of steel, plastic housings, timber, the foam bonded to a modern cylinder. You do not have to strip it. It just prices as what it is.
04
Whether we collect it
Bringing it in yourself is worth more than having it collected, because collection is a vehicle and a driver. On a decent load the difference is real; on a boot full of oddments it is not worth the fuel.
Why there’s no price list on this page
Because scrap prices move with the metal markets, and they move weekly. Any figure printed here would be out of date before most people read it, and a website quoting last month’s rate is not being transparent — it is being wrong in a direction that never seems to disadvantage whoever published it.
Send a photo of what you have got and you will get today’s number for your actual load. Payment is by bank transfer, because paying cash for scrap has been illegal in this country since 2013 — anyone offering you notes is telling you something about how the rest of their business runs.

Straight answers
How much does it cost?
It depends on volume and what it is, so we price per job rather than quote a misleading from-price. Send a photo and you will get the actual number for your actual load, usually the same day.
Do I have to be in?
For most outdoor and garage jobs, no — as long as we can get to it and you have confirmed the price, we can collect while you are out.
What areas do you cover?
Wymondham and everywhere down the A11 and A47 — Norwich, Attleborough, Thetford, Diss, Long Stratton and across into Suffolk to Beccles and Bungay. If you are not sure, just ask.
Is it all done legally?
Yes. We are a registered waste carrier and licensed scrap dealer, every load comes with a waste transfer note, and our registration numbers are on every page of this site so you can check them.
Can you take fridges and freezers?
Yes. They cannot go in a normal skip because of the gas, but we are set up to take them and dispose of them properly under the WEEE rules.
How quickly can you come?
Often the same week, sometimes the same day if we are passing. Tell us where you are and we will give you the honest answer.
Is it cheaper than a skip?
For a one-off clear-out, usually — once you count the permit if it stands on the road, the hire period, and the fact that you load a skip yourself and cannot fill it above the rim. For a long refurb where waste appears over weeks, a skip may well be the better buy. We will say so if it is.
Is there anything you will not take?
Asbestos, LPG and propane cylinders, acetylene bottles, and drums of chemicals or oil. Those need a specialist with a different licence, and anyone who says otherwise is telling you what you want to hear. Discharged fire extinguishers are fine — that is an empty bottle, and we take those. Everything else, ask: the list of things we can take is far longer than the list we cannot.
Do I get anything back for scrap metal?
If there is real metal in the load, its value comes off your price rather than quietly into our pocket. For a car or a large amount of metal on its own, it can go the other way and we pay you. Note that paying cash for scrap is illegal in the UK, so it will be a bank transfer.
